3rd Asian Individual Championships take place 9th-18th August, 2001 in Calcutta. Xu Jun leads a strong Chinese challenge at the Gorky Sadan, Calcutta.

2001年 “遗失的男孩”公开赛 在8月10～19日在阿姆斯特丹(荷兰首都)举行。古列维奇，苏图夫斯基等名将参加了比赛。
The ninth Lost Boys International open tournament will take place August 10th-19th 2001 in Amsterdam. Mikhail Gurevich, Loek Van Wely, Ivan Sokolov, Jeroen Piket, Pavel Tregubov Emil Sutovsky, Boris Avrukh, Jan Timman and Friso Nijboer head the field of 85 players.

76届法国锦标赛于8月12～25日在Marseille 举行。
The 76th French Championships take place in Marseille 12th-25th August 2001.

世界青年国际象棋锦标赛 World Junior Chess Championships

来自55个国家的大约150位棋手（99位男子和56位女子）将参加8月16～29日在希腊雅典举行的20岁一下2001年国际象棋世界青年锦标赛。这次比赛的人数比上届大大增加。
About 150 players from 55 countries (99 boys and 56 girls) are expected to participate in the 2001 World Junior U20 Chess Championship, August 16-29 in Athens, Greece. This is an increase of over 50% compared with the previous year, when a total of 92 players participated.

美洲国际象棋锦标赛 American Continental Championships

美洲国际象棋锦标赛 8月9～20日在卡利[哥伦比亚西部城市]举行。比赛为11轮瑞士制比赛，该比赛同时是国际棋联世界锦标赛的资格赛。
The American Continental Championships take place in Cali Colombia 9th-20th August 2001. The event is an 11 round Swiss and is also a qualifier for the FIDE Championships.
